      A new compound with a three-dimensional cationic supramolecular framework, (4,4'-BipyH2)2(FeCl4)3Cl(1),has been synthesized via hydrothermal reaction and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure analysis reveals that the title compound features an isolated structure, based on 4,4'-BipyH2 moieties, Cl- anions and an iron atom terminally bound by four chlorine atoms. The 4,4'-BipyH2 moieties, Cl- anions and (FeCl4)- anions are interconnected via hydrogen bonds to form a 3-D cationic supramolecular framework with some (FeCl4)- anions residing in the voids of the cationic supramolecular framework.
