| Qianzhonglu, a historical drama in the early Qing Dynasty on the Jingnan Battle. It not only involves a literary rewriting of the historical events, but also reflects the author's profound contemplation of dynastic change. Through character development, the author demonstrated empathy for the deposed ruler, denounced the Jingnan insurgents, and extolled loyal officials. The plot construction conveys aspirations for restoration and consequences for usurpation. In its conclusion, it presents two paths for scholars transitioning between Qing and Ming: serving the new regime or retiring to seclusion. |
