| The typical feature of OuyangXiu's letters is their special style. His letters, especially those that evoke memories of the past while living in the present, are full of emotion. In the letters, various narrative techniques, such as transition, modulation, suspense, comparison, and foreshadowing, and so on, are employed, which makes the letters elegant in manner. The use of function words brings a special appealing quality, presenting a different style from the letters of literati in the Yuan-You period. The deep emotion, unique narrative techniques, and distinctive language features form the beauty of the "style " of his letters. |
