| 以《天下》月刊原始文献为基础，系统梳理姚莘农在英语世界传播鲁迅及其作品的贡献。一是姚莘农向斯诺推荐鲁迅及其小说，并与斯诺合作翻译刊行，出版第一本鲁迅及左翼作家作品英译选集。二是协助斯诺采访鲁迅，速记完成“问题清单”并译成英文，帮助威尔士完成《现代中国文学运动》研究论文撰写，向英语世界传播新文学。三是在鲁迅病逝后，首发英文《我所了解的鲁迅》，高度评价鲁迅小说，充分赞赏鲁迅的人品，第一个向英语世界传播鲁迅是中国的“民族魂”，同时在《天下》刊发《鲁迅：他的生平和作品》，高度肯定鲁迅对新文学的贡献，成为向英语世界传播鲁迅的中国现代作家第一人，奠定英语世界研究鲁迅及其小说的基本论调。 |

| This paper systematically reviews Yao Xinnong's contribution to the dissemination of Lu Xun and his works in the English-speaking world. First, Yao Xinnong recommended Lu Xun and his novels to Snow, and cooperated with Snow to translate Lu Xun's novels, and published the first collection of selected works of Lu Xun and left-wing writers in the English world. Second, it was the first to spread to the English-speaking world that Lu Xun was the "national soul" of China. Lu Xun:His Life and Works was published in T'ien Hsia Monthly, which highly recognized Lu Xun's contribution to new literature. Yao Xinnong laid the basic argument for the study of Lu Xun and his novels in the English-speaking world. |
