针对明中期以来部分儒家学者在为学工夫中陷入体用分离的弊端,刘元卿继承与发扬耿定向“真机不容已”之旨与“学有三关”说,构建起以“体用合一”为特征的学说体系。通过论证“生生不容已”之本心,刘元卿明确了自然之欲与不容已之本心的体用关系。在为学工夫方面,刘元卿奉行孔子的“一以贯之”之道,主张以“欲明明德于天下”的为学志向来引领“诚其意”工夫的落实,最终实现外在工夫与内在本体的自然统一。 |

To remove the disadvantages of separation of substance and functions brought by some Confucian scholars since the middle period of Ming Dynasty, Liu Yuanqing, based on the inheritance of Geng Dingxiang’s thought of “Zhen Ji Bu Rong Yi” (the spread-out of conscience was a uncontrollable process) and the doctrine of “Xue You San Guan” (three phases which are against three problems), built a philosophy system characterized by “integration of substance and functions”. Through demonstrating his view of conscience which produces and nourishes creatures without beginning and end, Liu Yuanqing clearly stated that the natural desire is the external manifestation of human nature. As for how to learn, Liu Yuanqing drew on Confucius’s idea that“One Principle runs through it all”, and advocated to “make the heart honest”with the aspiration of“Yu Ming Ming De Yu Tian Xia (“carrying forward virtues in the world”), and then realized the natural unity of external work and internal conscience. |
