| This paper is intended to explore the relationship between "speed"and "passion" in D. H. Lawrence's novels. In his novels, Lawrence criticizes deeply and strongly the industrialization represented by the coalmine production, thus reveals the "speed" of industrial development destroys and alienates nature and human nature; that the keen on "speed" makes people desire mechanical "passion" and lose the most natural "passion" in their lives. |
