| In Shang Dynasty, the Supreme Heaven Immortal was called "God" or "Heaven". In spite of the different names, concept of the Immortal was created for similar reasons. The Immortal is entitled with capability to regulate rains, thunders and winds, which suggested strong power of agricultural management. The suburb prayer rites, as an institution for worshiping the Supreme Heaven Immortal, is characterized in strong appellation for agricultural harvest. |
