| 王夫之《读通鉴论》认为，尊君是治道的基石，世族豪门的存在一定程度上对君权起到了抗衡和制约作用，君子人格即贵族精神荷载着道统。尊卑等级对维护社会秩序至关重要，因而需设君民之大防，使天子之令不直接落实到地方百姓，以门阀取代科举来阻止民间精英的上达。这些表明王夫之史论中有浓厚的愚民思想，然而这一思想与生民思想并行不悖，由此可知儒家的重心既不在尊君，也不在生民，其所关注的是“君—民”秩序天平的平衡。这一思想体系与农业宗法社会的特点相适应，而其中蕴含的伦理思考具有普世价值。 |

| Wang Fu-zhi's Comments about History as a Mirror holds that respect for monarchs is the cornerstone of governance, the existence of aristocratic rich families for generations plays the function of contending with and restricting monarchical power to a certain degree,and gentleman personality,namely noble spirit, loads Confucian orthodoxy.The book also thinks that keeping the high and low rank is of utmost importance for the maintenance of social order and consequently it is necessary to build big blocks between the monarch and the people so as to stop the order of the emperor from being implemented to the local people directly,and to replace the imperial examination with hereditary system to prevent the folk elite from reaching the higher authorities.All the above-mentioned views demonstrate that there exists strong obscurant thought in Wang Fu-zhi's historical essays,which is compatible with the populace thought. From this people see that the focus of Confucianism does not lie in respecting the monarch nor caring for the masses but in balance of order between the monarch and the people. This ideological system is in conjunction with the features of the agricultural patriarchal society and the ethical thinking implied in it renders universal value. |
