| The thoughts of developing "new citizen" is a key part in Chen Qitian's theory of "New Nationalism". It originated from Chen's awareness of dealing the national crisis and building a modern China. Starting from his revealing of the weakness and defects in Chinese people's characteristics, the thinker proposed his ideas on specific approaches and methods to reforming the characteristics of Chinese people as citizens. In his thoughts of developing "new citizen", Chen kept the cultivation of nationalist awareness as the core of education. |
