| 唐五代的律体哀悼诗往往用高度凝炼精切的语汇、简短明快的句式、巧妙的修辞以表达哀情，主要体现为：一、用概括、凝炼的语汇表明死者的个人简况。二、用同义词、反义词表现哀情。三、用典故或表明死者个人简况、或表现死亡或表达哀情。四、用超常语汇表达以现哀情。五、从句式节奏看，五律体哀悼诗继承了五古的古朴精神，其句式较短，节奏较少，又比四言体句式多了一个字，更富有表现力，而且因其较多用二一二句式对称结构而越发显得整齐匀称、严谨端庄，因而多用于交际应酬类哀悼诗中哀悼地位较为尊贵的死者。其次，唐五代的律体哀悼诗往往用生死对照式和死后渲哀式的章法表达哀情。再者，哀悼对象身份越尊贵，诗人的感情越内敛，越选用齐言、格律严谨的哀悼诗，五律体哀悼诗因其特点而成为唐五代所有哀悼诗中运用最多、最适合表现哀情的诗体。 |

| Metrical Elegic poems in Tang and Five Dynasties are featured in their brief wording, sentence and rhetoric which amply express the poet's mourning. Their features in wording include summarizing and brief words for introduction of the dead, synonyms and antonyms used for mourning, allusion used for introduction of the dead, his death or lament, and extraordinary words used for lament. In terms of sentence meter, the poems develop the rhythms of ancient poems and demonstrate their advantages in shorter sentence, limited rhythm, and symmetric couplet structure that makes neat and solemn poems for noble dead. The poems are also characterized in the use of contrast between life and death and narrative of the death-resulted sorrow. Besides, the social status of the lament target decides the verse of poems. A nobler dead often means a poem of restraint emotions and neat and orderly verse. Due to those features, the five-character metric poems are most often used for elegy and lament in the period. |
