欧阳修喜论古今书法,又有10多件墨宝传世。在理论上,他将书品与人品并论,强调“字如其人”;主张“师古”而“不俗”,强调“自成一家之体”;宣扬“学书为乐”,强调书法“自适”,启迪并导引宋代“尚意”书风。在实践上,他的书法作品将唐人笔法的“精劲”、“奇伟”与晋人笔法的“逸笔”、“高致”糅为一体,改变了宋代书学的审美趣尚。欧阳修的书法理论与实践,为宋代书法艺术发展作出了突出贡献,在中国书法史上产生过深远影响。 |

Ouyang Xiu was a master of calligraphy criticism who left a heritage of dozens of calligraphic works. In calligraphic theory, he regarded the features of calligraphy as expression of one's personality and emphasized that "writing tells the person". He insisted in "learning the classic" and "creating one's own style". He argued for "calligraphy for delights" and "calligraphy for one", which has inspired and promoted the calligraphic style of "spirits first" in Song Dynasty. In writing practice, he wrote in a style that integrates the "masculinity" and "magnificence" of Tang people and the "grace" and "loftiness" of Jin people, thus making a turn in the aesthetic taste of Song people. With his theory and practice in calligraphy, Ouyang Xiu made outstanding contributions to the development of that art in Song Dynasty and made profound influences in Chinese history of calligraphy. |
