| Good refinement is an important reason for the excellence of Ouyang Xiu's works. The thought of immortal statement keeps ouyang Xiu in cautious attitude toward his creation, making him pay attention to such refinements as selection of gist and themes, textural framework, choice of words and sentences, as well as details and omissions of contents. It is due to this reason that Ouyang Xiu wrote many successful works in mild, natural, simple styles. |
