| During his career as an imperial officer, Su Shi conducted hydraulic engineering projects, petitioned to the Imperial Court on behalf of disaster-inflicted refugees, and made many social rescue efforts. In addition, he wrote literary works as prayers for harvest and peace in which he detailed the pictures and tragic results of famines. Such works are treasures in China's history of famine literature. |
