| This article studies the cultural theme in the networks of allusion used in Henry Fielding＇s Tom Jones, and analyzes how Fielding constructs the networks of allusion concerning smile, whipping, beauty, drunkenness and fury, which achieve various cultural functions. The narrative method of the networks of allusion indirectly expresses the novelist＇s ideas and views, illustrates the artistic features of the narration, evokes the reader＇s imagination and offers the reader the pleasure of appreciating the ＂feast＂ of culture. |
