| Compared with his famous novels on the peasants of Jiangnan regio ’ Gaoxiaosheng’s prose is less known.As a matter of fact’ his prose continues the Jiangnan tradition of beauty as stimuli to our memories and imaginations of Jiangnan.Meanwhile’ he foresees and writes the ecological and cultural predicaments of Jiangnan under the market economy and industrialization surge’ in hope to arouse our reflections and precautions.It is in the fantasy and contradictions Gao Xiaosheng by prose tells us his Jiangnan: its abundance’ its beauty’ its wisdom’ and its melancholy. |
