| Tangzhiyan is a collection of stories on Imperial Examinations’ written by Wang Dingbao who lived through late Tang Dynasty and the Five-Dynasty period.The book is characterized in rich recordings and historical facts.Nevertheless’ as a collection of essays it includes some anecdotes of that time and some rewritings and adaptations of works in earlier period.It provides abundant materials for the writing of expanded’ adapted and invented novels in later periods and the creation of Zaju drama in Yuan Dynasty and Nihuaben in Ming Dynasty. |
